How are you getting on with your Tarot readings?
Are you finding them easier now that we’ve covered (nearly) all of the card meanings in this blog series?
It’s time to talk about the final cards in our series - the counterpart to The Queens. You’ve guessed it… The Kings.
THE KINGS REPRESENT KNOWLEDGE IN TAROT
Not necessarily esoteric knowledge. Not even academic knowledge, but more like lived wisdom embodied in such a way that you can be the leader in your own life, and if you want, lead others towards the best version of themselves.
The Kings represent what some people these days call the divine masculine qualities, just as The Queens represent the divine feminine qualities.
Everybody has both sides to them
And both are necessary to allow us to have total control of ourselves and our lives. This is how we can manifest incredible outcomes.
Now, The King always sits on his throne, adorned with a crown, watching over his kingdom. He’s ready to act, to spot problems which need solving, or to grasp good opportunities when they arrive.

So let’s dive into the suit-specific meanings, shall we?
THE KING OF CUPS MEANING
The King of Cups is a very emotionally balanced leader. He’s travelled over some rough seas to get to this point. He has an emotional depth that can’t be found in a book, and he uses his wisdom to govern his kingdom with generosity, understanding, and harmony.
If The King of Cups shows up in a reading, he could be asking you which area of your life needs this approach from you so that it can improve.
A good coaching question would be:
“How can I use my emotional intelligence to solve this problem?”
THE KING OF PENTACLES TAROT MEANING
The King of Pentacles is powerful in a material, practical way. He has used his potential to create wealth and security, and he is in perfect control of his world. In essence, he feels safe and has the resources to cope with any pitfalls and problems ahead.
If The King of Pentacles shows up in a reading, the cards could be asking you to focus on your place in the material world. Do you feel empowered or disempowered?
A good coaching question would be:
“How can I feel safer and more in control of my life in a practical way?”
THE KING OF SWORDS TAROT MEANING
The King of Swords has authority, impact and uses his intellect to solve the problems in his kingdom. His sword is sharp, and his mind is sharper. He remains calm at all times as a result of his ability to self-reflect, self-improve and change his beliefs to create his world.
If a King of Swords shows up in your reading, he could be asking you which area of your life requires some clear thinking so that you can take the lead and create change.
A good coaching question would be:
“What beliefs or assumptions are blocking me from being the leader in my life?”
THE KING OF WANDS TAROT MEANING
The King of Wands is the king of big visions. It takes someone who can think big and have never-been-done-before ideas to create a new kingdom. He doesn’t do this in a lofty way; he does this with maturity, leadership and alignment.
A good coaching question would be:
“If I could do anything, what would that be… and what would it take to get there?”
