Can you read Tarot cards for yourself accurately? Believe it or not, it’s an art that needs to be practised.
Many people can read Tarot for others accurately, but often become confused and frustrated when interpreting cards for themselves.
If you’re not careful, doing a Tarot reading for yourself will completely knock your confidence… the opposite of what the cards are meant to do!
How to do a Tarot Reading For Yourself
I’m going to share a few reasons why your Tarot readings may not be as accurate as you like, and how to fix this.
The biggest challenge for Tarot readers is that when it comes to doing Tarot readings for themselves, there can be an element of wishful thinking. No one is immune to this. However, the good news is that there is a process you can do which will remove the bias.
How to Avoid Bias When You’re Reading Tarot For Yourself
The key to overcoming this is maintaining a regular journaling practice. I encourage all my Masterclass students to do this.
Every time a challenge comes up in life, ask yourself:
What are my fears?
What are my hopes?
What are my biases?
This way, when you do a Tarot reading for yourself, you can scan the cards and see if any of your own patterns or wishful thinking are present.
How to Read Tarot When You’re Emotionally Involved
If your mind is full of anxious, fearful thoughts before a Tarot reading, you will automatically focus on potential negative outcomes and overlook any positive messages that the Tarot cards are showing you.
To prevent your emotions from clouding your Tarot reading, it’s a great idea to meditate, breathe deeply, listen to relaxing music and cleanse your space as part of your preparation for the reading.
There’s one more thing to mention when it comes to accuracy…
This one is so easy to get sucked into as an excited beginner; make sure you are not doing too many readings for yourself!
How Often Should You do Tarot Readings?
It can be tempting to constantly pull Tarot cards, particularly if you’ve got a pressing issue to solve. However, the problem is that by doing it often, if you’re really honest with yourself, you’re more than likely hoping for a different answer than the one you keep getting.
Here’s how you overcome that:
Decide on a very specific question before you start pulling cards.
Set a specific time to do Tarot readings for yourself. Once a month for a big, general reading is fine. Once a week on more specific issues is plenty.
Important! Carry out your Tarot reading and accept the answer. Trust the wisdom of the Tarot.
