What does The Devil Tarot card mean?

At some point, you might have felt a little uneasy when The Devil card has randomly jumped out of the Tarot deck!

He’s a fearful figure that has been referred to throughout history as something to be terrified of.

Like many ‘scary’ things, this card is not that scary at all.

The Devil Tarot Card Doesn’t Represent Evil

He represents the traps we impose on ourselves… our attachments to material objects, unhealthy habits, limiting beliefs and fears.

The Devil Is Your Shadow Self

If this card comes up in a client’s reading, it’s your job to put their mind at rest. Much like The Death card, The Devil card can cause a big emotional reaction in clients due to the misconceptions it holds.

You can coach your client on the following:

  • What habits and patterns are limiting their growth?

  • What ideas, beliefs or even material things are they unnecessarily attached to?

  • What do they want, V’s what do they really need? Often when they are honest with themselves, these are two different things. For example, they may want a new relationship, but they may need to build a sense of self-worth first.

  • How much power does immediate gratification have over them? Are they able to resist the temptation of overspending so that they can save some money for a rainy day?

These are some big ideas that your client may not have been expecting to look at in their tarot reading. But The Devil is telling them these issues need to be addressed.

The Devil Tarot Card Can Free You From The Things That Bring You Down

The Devil card doesn’t lure you into temptation - if you do the work, he can liberate you from it.

Encourage your client to do the following:

  • Keep a note of their impulses and what triggers them.

  • Get them to decide which unhealthy habits could be replaced with healthy ones.

  • Show them there’s no shame in seeking professional help such as therapy if their struggles are too big to cope with alone.

A big part of the spiritual journey is looking at the darker parts of ourselves and releasing the chains that bind us to them. There is no shame in this. Everybody has at least some shadow aspects to look at on their journey ahead.

The Devil Is A Card Of Transcendence

The will to transcend your problems is brave and ultimately leads to more happiness than running from them.

I hope this has helped make your Tarot readings more effective.

The truth is, we never know what is going to come up for a client during a reading or how they will react.

It’s best to be professionally and thoroughly trained. That’s why I have built my academy….

Because terrible Tarot readings can do more harm than good.
